Colgate-Palmolive Pan Pacific marketing manager, Rita Tuinamuana said the donation follows the company’s campaign “We Stand by You” launched in early October. “This is one of the initiatives we first started off in 2009, so it’s all about bringing out the caring values and that’s what we want to extend to the public,” she said. Staff members from Colgate-Palmolive also handed over a separate cheque of $900 which they had collected among themselves. “We’ve tried to provide support in own our little way – wearing pink every Friday, getting the pink ribbons, attending the ANZ Pink Walk. “We’re very happy to continue to be in partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society and we look forward to another exciting campaign next year.” Fiji Cancer Society chief executive officer, Belinda Chan was emotional on receiving the donation on behalf of the organisation. “Organisations like you have actually been influential and instrumental in the work that we do and we sincerely thank you for it,” Ms Chan said. “You guys enable us to do what we do – the funds you give us go towards assisting our patients not only in Suva but in Lautoka and Labasa as well.” Cancer survivor and one of Fiji’s most loved voices, Laisa Vulakoro said: “As a survivor it means a great, great lot “I was grateful during my time when I was sick because I was helped by my husband, my husband’s family and my family – I was blessed. “Some of these people that are suffering don’t have this kind of support from the family – they don’t have anyone.” “Without them [the donors], the volunteers and staff at the society, it’s not possible,” the Vude Queen said.
