Colgate Launches "Every Drop Counts" 10-20-2017 / 13:11Written by drafting prnews Each day, only 1% of our water consumption is used to hydrate, while drinking water is running low. This causes non-potable water to be the leading cause of global mortality. True to its commitment to the planet, Colgate-Palmolive launches in Spain, in collaboration with Carrefour, "Every Drop Counts", its public awareness campaign to save water. Carrefour celebrates until October 22 the Anti-Waste Week with the start of a plan to avoid wastage that includes 12 specific actions, including the "Every Drop Counts" campaign. The Anti-waste Week aims to share with consumers and employees of the distribution company, different actions to raise awareness of the need to fight against any form of waste: energy, food ... For Colgate it is essential to educate consumers on the correct and proper use of water, starting by closing the faucet when brushing the teeth, since leaving it open for two minutes can result in the waste of 10 liters of water. To this end, the company will carry out an action in Madrid, coinciding with the Carrefour Anti-Waste Week, to sensitize the community about the relevance and the need not to waste this scarce resource in some areas of the world. It will take place on Saturday October 21, from 12.30 hrs, in the Carrefour parking lot in Alcobendas. "Every drop counts" complements the company's commitment several years ago to developing a global plan, known as "Save Water," so as not to waste this vital resource in Colgate's plant production process. In this way, it has managed to reduce water consumption since 2005 by 33.1%, the equivalent of 7,000 Olympic pools! In this way, as a champion of this type of initiatives, it has established different collaborations with international associations to promote children's access to drinking water in areas where it is scarce. Among its most outstanding projects are the installation of wells in Ethiopia alongside "Un enfant par la main" and the implementation in South Africa of "playpump" systems, which consists of the use of the energy of the children playing to pump water that they later recover in a faucet.
